A VPS you run yourself. A managed VPS we help you run.
CortexHosting is a VPS hosting platform with managed and unmanaged Linux servers.
We’re not open yet, so you can’t order a server today.
VPS
You get root through sudo, so you can install anything and change any setting. Updates and fixes are up to you.
Managed
Safety updates install by themselves. No account has sudo: you do the rest from the dashboard.
How much you run yourself.
| Good for | Developers and teams who want root and to run it themselves | Anyone who wants the system looked after for them |
|---|---|---|
| Root access | Yours, through sudo | No account has sudo |
| Safety updates | Up to you | Install by themselves |
| Changes | Any setting, your way | From the dashboard |
| Your apps and data | Yours to look after | Yours to look after |
You stay in charge.

AI apps can work on your servers, if you say so.
Connect an AI app such as Claude Code. You approve the connection and choose its projects, and it never gets your password. What it reads goes to the company that made the app.
-
A lock only you hold.
Lock a server with your passkey or SSH key. While it’s locked, our software on the server says no to anything new from us, like a terminal, files or installs. Its everyday jobs and its own signed updates keep running. The lock works inside the server, so the server can still be turned off or deleted. If you lose every key, it stays locked.
-
Backups you can reach when the server is down.
Backups are a paid extra you turn on. You can look through one from the dashboard even while the server is down, and restore it onto a new server.
Also in the dashboard.
-
Terminal and files
Use your server from your browser, with nothing to set up.
-
Apps from a list
Nginx, Caddy, PostgreSQL, Docker, WordPress and more. Some aren’t offered on every system.
-
Domains
Attach your domain or get a free web address. With Caddy, your site gets a free HTTPS certificate.
-
Firewall
On a new server, everything coming in is closed, except SSH and ping. Apps you install open what they need, like web ports.
-
Your team
Give each person only the access they need.
-
Your choice of system
Ubuntu 24.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12 or Rocky Linux 9.
-
A server you already have
Add it, and see it in the same dashboard.
